Dear Christian Mentor, I feel overwhelmed.

When I Feel Overwhelmed

"So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” ~ Hebrews 4:16

Dear Christian Mentor,

"When it rains, it pours." I have found myself saying this to my husband occasionally throughout our marriage. Sometimes, life can be complicated and, at times, feel overwhelming. Marriages have good seasons and tough seasons; our kids experience growth spurts and growing pains; our careers have moments of success and stress; and our finances go up and then go down. Where do I turn when life feels overwhelming and I don’t have the strength to handle it on my own?

Dear Mentee,

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.” I love the tenacity this Bible verse encourages us to have in our relationship with God. 'Coming boldly to our gracious God's throne' means approaching Him with confidence, not fearing judgment or rejection. It means coming to Him with raw emotions, feelings, weaknesses, pain, and sin that overwhelm us. We need to get out of the habit of our prayers being perfectly worded conversations with God, and be honest about how we are really doing and feeling. We have a gracious God who understands our weaknesses and struggles. He can handle anything we approach Him with, and He promises to give us mercy, grace, and help when we need it most.

Today's promise: We have a gracious God who is always ready and waiting to pour out mercy, grace, and help when we need it most. His support is not limited or conditional but is always available to us.

Application: What is overwhelming you today? Go boldly to the Lord and tell Him all your needs.
