God is at Work When Life Feels Uncertain!
H - Hearing God’s Word: “In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.” ~ Judges 21:25
E - Explanation of God’s Word:
You might be wondering, “Why are we reading a verse from Judges? I thought this was a Ruth devotional.” The book of Judges comes right before Ruth, and this verse sets the stage for how Ruth begins: God’s people had no leadership, and everyone was doing whatever they saw fit.
Does that sound familiar? In many ways, it reflects the world we live in today. From violence and division to confusion in culture, churches, and leadership, we often see people choosing their own way instead of God’s way.
The book of Ruth reminds us that we live in a fallen world where seasons can grow darker. Yet even in the midst of that darkness, God is still at work. Through Ruth’s story, we see that He is faithful, quietly at work, restoring and redeeming even when we cannot see it.
A- Application of God’s Word:
Where are you choosing your own way instead of seeking God’s help and guidance?
In what situations are you relying on your own feelings, opinions, or control rather than trusting Him?
Ask God to reveal any areas of your life where you may be living according to your own understanding instead of His truth.
R- Responding to God’s Word (Affirmation):
God sees you in the midst of hardship, and He is working all things together for your good—even when you cannot see it.
