Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent?(Day10)

Gratitude

"I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”

~ Psalm 9:1

Dear Christian Mentor,

I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?

Dear Mentee,

The season of Lent is an invitation. For forty days, we intentionally slow down, clear space, and allow God to search our hearts. Lent reminds us of what Christ did for us on the cross and how He will continue to be present and faithful to us throughout our lives. Today, let’s spend some time focusing on gratitude for our Savior. Gratitude is a powerful doorway into Lent. Before sacrifice. Before fasting. Before repentance. There is remembrance.

Application For Today:

Today’s Promise:  The Lord is good. He has done and will continue to do many wonderful things in our lives.

Today’s Fast:

Fast from complaining, worrying. or stressing about things in your life. Instead, shift your focus to gratitude:

  • Praise God for how He has been faithful to you in the past.

  • Praise God for how you presently see His goodness in your life.

  • Praise God for being your constant, never-changing God who goes before you in your future.

  • Praise God for the prayers He has answered - even in ways you did not expect.

  • How can gratitude calm the spiraling of complaining, worry, and stress?
