Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent? (Day 33 Peace)

Peace

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” ~ John 14:27

Dear Christian Mentor,

I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?

Dear Mentee,

There is a peace the world offers, and there is a peace the Lord gives—and they are not the same.

The peace of the world is fragile and circumstantial. It shifts with our surroundings and situations. We feel at ease when life is going well—when we feel accepted, when our health is good, when finances are stable, or when plans fall into place. But the moment something changes, that peace begins to fade.

The peace Christ gives us is different. It is not dependent on what is happening around us but rooted in who is with us.

The Lord’s presence is with us—peace.
The Almighty God is in control—peace.
The protection and promises of the Lord surround us—peace.

This peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of God in the midst of it. It steadies our hearts when life feels uncertain and reminds us that we are never alone.

Today’s Promise:
Because Jesus has given you His peace, you do not have to live troubled or afraid. His peace is constant, unshaken, and available to you in every moment.

Application Questions:

  • What situations in your life are currently stealing your peace?

  • Have you been depending on circumstances to feel at peace instead of resting in God’s presence?

  • What would it look like to fully trust that God is in control today?

Today’s Fast:
Fast from worry and anxious thoughts. When you feel fear rising, pause and intentionally replace it with prayer. Speak this truth over your heart: “Lord, I have received your peace. I will not be troubled or afraid.”
