Dear Christian Mentor,
I often find myself dwelling on the past or worrying about what tomorrow might bring. I think about things I wish I had done differently, things I need to accomplish, and what might happen next. Sometimes I get so caught up in my thoughts that I forget to appreciate the day God has placed right in front of me. How can I become more intentional about being present and finding joy in today?
Dear Mentee,
It is easy to become so focused on yesterday's regrets or tomorrow's uncertainties that we overlook the gift of today. But God has given us this day as an opportunity to experience His grace, grow in our faith, love others well, and recognize the blessings He has placed right in front of us.
Psalm 118:24 reminds us, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (KJV).
This verse invites us to rejoice in the day God has made. We don't have to wait for something extraordinary to happen before we find reasons to be grateful. Sometimes the greatest blessings are found in the simplest moments—a conversation with someone we love, a beautiful morning, an answered prayer, or the opportunity to begin again.
Yesterday is behind us, and tomorrow is not promised. Today is an opportunity to walk with God, trust Him with what is ahead, and be thankful for what He has placed before us. Don't let the worries of tomorrow steal the joy of today.
A Question to Reflect On:
What is one simple thing about today that you don't want to take for granted? How can you intentionally make room to recognize and enjoy God's blessings today?
