Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent? (Day 22)
God is For You!
"Being confident is this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 1:6
Dear Christian Mentor,
I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?
Dear Mentee,
God is for you. When you give your life to Christ, your salvation is only the beginning. You enter into a relationship with Him, and like any relationship, it grows as we intentionally draw near.
So, how do we grow in our relationship with Christ?
Scripture reminds us in James 4:8 that when we draw near to God, He draws near to us. As He draws close, He guides us, heals us, strengthens us, and shapes us to become more like Him. Because of this, you can be confident that the Lord is continually at work in your life. He is fully for you.
Lent is a beautiful season to pause and reflect on the story God is writing in your life—from the beginning of your faith to the promise of eternity with Him.
Today’s Promise:
God is for you and promises to be with you throughout your entire life.
Application:
Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with the Lord by considering the three questions below.
Beginning (Salvation):
When did you give your life to Christ, and what led you to make that decision?
Maybe you haven’t given your life to Christ and don’t know where to begin. If that is the case, pause and talk to Him. God meets us right where we are. Tell the Lord what is on your heart, seek forgiveness for your mistakes, and ask Him to help you grow in a relationship with Him.
If you have questions about what it means to give your life to Christ, connect with us—we would be honored to walk with you on this journey.
Daily Growth (Transformation):
Do you feel like you are growing closer to the Lord and becoming the person He created you to be?
What is one area where you desire to grow in your relationship with Christ?
Completion (Eternal Life):
How does it feel knowing God is for you? He does not define you by your flaws or past mistakes. He sees you, loves you, and promises to walk with you until the day you enter into eternal life with Him.
Today’s Fast:
Fast from the pressure to “fix” yourself. Instead, surrender your growth to the Lord. Each time you feel the need to strive or perform, pray:
“Lord, continue the good work you have begun in me.”
Fast from believing your story is finished. Remember that God is still writing it.
