Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent? (Day 26)
Growing in Our Faith
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” ~ Colossians 2:6-7
Dear Christian Mentor,
I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?
Dear Mentee,
When we first come to Christ, there is often a deep sense of excitement and renewal. We recognize our need for Him, receive His grace, and begin a new life. But the Christian journey was never meant to end there. Salvation is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the Lord.
Paul reminds us in this passage that just as we received Christ, we are to continue living in Him—rooted and built up like a strong tree planted in rich soil. When our roots go deep, our faith becomes steady and resilient. We begin to trust God more, rely on His truth, and allow Him to shape our thoughts, decisions, and desires.
Faith grows over time as we intentionally remain connected to Christ. Through prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience, the Lord strengthens our hearts and deepens our trust in Him. Slowly but surely, our lives begin to overflow with gratitude for all that He has done.
The beautiful promise is that God is not distant or uninvolved in our lives. He is for you and promises to walk with you through every season. As you draw near to Him, He continues to grow and strengthen your faith.
During this season of Lent, let this time be more than a routine. Let it be an opportunity to deepen your roots in Christ and allow Him to build your life on His truth.
Today’s Promise:
God is for you and promises to be with you throughout your entire life.
Application Questions:
• When you think about your relationship with Christ, where do you feel most rooted and secure in your faith?
• Are there areas of your life where you feel spiritually weak or disconnected from God?
• What practices help you feel closest to the Lord?
• In what ways can you invite God to strengthen your faith in this season?
Ways to Grow in Your Faith Today:
• Spend time reading Scripture and ask God to reveal something new to you.
• Set aside a few quiet minutes for prayer, simply talking with the Lord about your day.
• Write down three things you are grateful for and thank God for them.
• Reach out to a trusted Christian friend or mentor for encouragement or accountability.
Today’s Fast:
Fast from spiritual complacency. Instead of going through the motions of faith, intentionally seek time with the Lord today through prayer, Scripture, or quiet reflection.
