Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent?(Day15)

Times of Uncertainty

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” ~ Hebrews 13: 8

Dear Christian Mentor,

I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?

Dear Mentee,

When we turn on the news or scroll through our phones, we are constantly reminded of the instability of our world. Wars rage. Children suffer. Division grows. The volume of chaos can feel deafening. It does not take much for anxiety to rise and fear to tighten its grip on our hearts.

Uncertainty has a way of shaking what feels stable. But Hebrews 13:8 anchors us in a deeper reality: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Lent invites us to anchor our hearts not in what is shifting, but in Who is unchanging.

While headlines change hourly, Christ does not.
While economies shift and nations tremble, Christ remains sovereign.
While our emotions fluctuate, Jesus Christ is our constant peace.

This verse reminds us that the unchanging nature of Christ means His authority, love, mercy, and justice are not subject to cultural trends or global events. The same Jesus who calmed the storm in the Gospels still rules over the storms of today. The same Savior who conquered death remains enthroned.

Today’s Promise: Jesus is our only constant in life.

Application: Intentionally remember the God who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). Reflect on these attributes of God. Where have you personally experienced Him in these ways?

  • Provider – In what ways has Jesus provided for your needs?

  • Almighty God – Where have you seen His power at work?

  • Waymaker – When did He create a path where there seemed to be none?

  • Prince of Peace – How has He quieted your anxiety?

  • Refuge – When did you run to Him for safety?

  • Helper – Where did His strength sustain you?

  • Protector – How has He shielded you and your family?

  • Teacher – What has He been teaching you recently?

  • Friend – When have you felt His closeness?

Today’s Fast: Fast from consuming media that fuels fear. Limit news and social scrolling, and replace that time with Scripture meditation on God’s unchanging character.

As the world trembles, remember: Christ does not.
