Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent?(Day19)

Praise

"I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” ~ Psalm 34:1

Dear Christian Mentor,

I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?

Today, we will reflect on where we posture ourselves. If you look back on the last 24 hours, would you say your posture was focused on problems and difficulties, leading you to complain or groan about life? Or perhaps your posture was more peaceful, simply taking life as it comes.

What if our posture toward life were one of continual praise?

In Revelation, we are told that day and night the angels sing praise to the Lord:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

What if this were our posture as well? No matter what our day brings, our posture could be one of praise—praising the Lord for His holiness, His faithfulness, and the goodness He continues to bring into our lives.

Praise shifts our perspective. It reminds us that even when circumstances feel heavy, God remains worthy of our worship.

Today’s Promise:
Whether we are in the valley or on the mountain top, the Lord is worthy of our praise.

Application:

  • How would you describe your posture toward life right now?

  • Pause throughout your day (maybe even set a few reminders on your phone) and say aloud: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Today’s Fast:
Fast from complaining. When you find yourself beginning to complain about your situation, pause and instead praise God for something good in your life.
