Dear Christian Mentor, Can you walk with me through Lent? (Day 36 Cared For)
You Are Cared For
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” ~ Matthew 10:29-31
Dear Christian Mentor,
I have participated in Lent many times, but it often feels like something I should do rather than an experience that draws me closer to the Lord. Can you walk with me through the season of Lent?
Dear Mentee,
You are cared for. Do these words bring you peace? You are loved, seen, heard, and valued by your Creator. He knows you so intimately that He knows the number of hairs on your head. Nothing about your life is unnoticed or insignificant to Him. Even in the quiet, hidden, or uncertain places, you are fully seen and deeply known. Jesus watches over you, is aware of every detail of your life, and will provide for you all your days.
Because of this deep, personal care, you are invited to trust Him. Trust is not pretending life is easy, or that uncertainty doesn’t exist—it is choosing to believe that the One who sees everything is also lovingly in control of everything. When you trust Him, you release the need to carry what was never yours to hold. You loosen your grip on worry, outcomes, and understanding, and instead rest in His character.
God’s care is not distant or general—it is intentional and specific to you. He is not simply aware of your life; He is actively involved in it. This means you can trust Him not only with the big decisions and heavy burdens, but also with the small, unseen details of your day. Trust grows when you remind your heart that He is both willing and able to care for you perfectly.
There may be moments when trusting feels difficult—when prayers seem unanswered, or circumstances feel unclear. In those moments, return to this truth: If He cares enough to notice a sparrow fall, how much more does He care for you? His love is steady, His attention is constant, and His provision is enough. You can trust Him, even here.
Today’s Promise:
God’s care for you is personal and constant. Just as He watches over every sparrow, He is watching over you. You are never outside of His attention, His provision, or His love. You can walk through today with confidence, knowing you are held in His hands.
Application Questions:
Where in your life do you find it hardest to trust God right now?
What are you holding tightly that God may be asking you to release to Him?
How can you intentionally remind yourself of His care throughout your day?
Today’s Fast:
Fast from worry and the need to control. When anxious or uncertain thoughts arise, pause and pray: “God, I trust that You see me, You know me, and You are caring for me.”
